Abstract:
The main role οf public hospitals is the promotion and care for people with health problems. Responsibility for the quantity, type and quality of service lies mainly in the medical and nursing staff employed by the hospital. All other staff work effectively to support the task of doctors and nurses. Prerequisite of the Head of nursing department to successfully fulfill its role, is to have knowledge of the basic principles of management, sufficient professional experience and specific individual characteristics and qualifications. The medical director of the nursing department is scientifically responsible for the independence of the department. Effective cooperation of health professionals disregard the personal benefit interest, the work competition and daily conflicts. Furthermore, cooperation is the cornerstone of the smooth operation of a nursing department having as ultimate goal the quality management of both patients and health professional.
