Abstract:
Introduction:General rules govern the health services market, as it happens with every market. Constitutional rules of the markets are the quality assurance via the continuous improvement of the quality of services in accordance with the rational allocation of resources, and the role of evidence based practice in healthcare is of outmost importance, influencing a lot the quality of care and the patients’ outcomes as well. The aim of the present study was to review the basic principles of Evidence-based Nursing, focusing on the Greek reality.
Methodology : The writing of this article took place through the review of Greek and international bibliography, focusing mainly in relevant articles to identify concerning evidence based nursing.
Discussion: Patients are entitled to the best care, in accordance with current scientific knowledge and available resources. Since patients with their rights come into focus, it becomes stronger the need to strengthen the role of quality in services is important to incorporate quality assurance procedures in the flow of the department with the participation of the nursing staff. The objective and perspective on science of nursing in Greece are finding indications and their application in daily nursing care. Conclusions: Εlimination of any entrenched attitudes and perceptions in space, they deprive the nurse documented opinion and professional autonomy, is a challenge for the future and an urgent need for this. In this direction should contribute to the efforts of all health professionals, especially nurses.
