Abstract:
Introduction: Since the 1990s, the European Union has provided several guidelines to its member states on the sustainability of health systems. The purpose of this study was to present the most significant policies implemented in health care in Sweden and Greece. Methodology: A review of international literature was conducted in the electronic databases such as pubmed, google scolar. Results: Sweden has one of the best health care systems in the world. However, the changing health care environment requires maintaining high standards of the system. In contrast, Greece has significant shortages of medical resources and in combination with high costs, economic and geographical inequalities, immediate action is needed. Conclusions: The restructuring of the Greek healthcare system can be achieved by adopting the good practices applied in the Swedish healthcare model.
