Abstract:
Introduction: Diabetic foot is one of the most inflictive complications of diabetes mellitus causing grave problems to the patients, it is however a problem that could be limited or even eradicated if there was proper prevention. Prevention is a field that pertains mainly to the primary health care system so the views of the health care workers is rendered useful to showcase the existing conditions and improve prevention measures in Health Centers. Aim: The aim of this study was the exploration of the primary health carer views regarding the formation of prevention and treatment centers for diabetic foot ulcers within the Health Centers.
Methodology: The method used is the Grounded Theory. Non structured interviews with health carers who work in primary healthcare were made and the data collected were analyzed using the method of Comparative Analysis. Results: From the analysis of the data four main thematic aspects emerged. 1. the importance of creating a center for prevention and treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers 2. The ways of actualizing such a project. 3. the factors that would facilitate the formation of prevention and treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers centers and finally 4. The obstacles before and during the implementation of prevention and treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers centers. Respectively ten subcategories were included in each main thematic aspect. Conclusion: The views of primary health carers highlighting the need to establish these centers in primary health structures and suggests new ideas for the formation and operation of said centers and analyze the obstacles associated with this project.
